Goal(s)

At the end of this module, students will know:

  • how to model, analyze and modify simple signals, images or data to extract useful information
  • how to analyze and control a closed loop system

Content(s)

This course is divided into two distinct and complementary parts.

A first part is dedicated to the science of data, images and signals :

  • classification of signals
  • correlation functions and frequency representation of the signals
  • convolution and signal filtering
  • signal sampling
  • initiation of image processing
  • initiation into data processing and machine learning.

A second part is dedicated to the analysis and control of systems.

Prerequisites

  • integral transformations: Laplace transform, Fourier transform
  • linear and time-invariant systems: time response, frequency response, transfer function
  • properties of order 1 and 2 systems
