Goal(s)
The outcomes of this course are :
- model structures in elastic range
- analyse the results of modelling in order to design structures
- design mechanical structures taking into account load cases
- analyse experimental tests and compare them with numerical or analytical models.

Content(s)
This module is an introduction module about the basics for structural analysis, for quasi-statics load cases. This module supplies notions and models necessary for structures design. Continuum Mechanics useful for the solids bahaviour are approached, the transition towards the notions handled by the module M3 is illustrated. Laboratory class included analysis of instrumented beams in tension / flexion / twisting, a hollow envelope under pressure and a compressed pierced plate.
The various materials are detailed below:
Mechanical properties of materials: 4 hours CM(LECTURE)
The Strength of materials - Beams theory: 24 hours CTD(LECTURE and TUTORIAL CLASS); 4 hours TP(LABORATORY CLASS)
Elasticity theory: 12 hours CM(LECTURE); 12 hours TD(TUTORIAL CLASS); 4 hours TP(LABORATORY CLASS)
PrerequisitesNo prerequisite
First session
EN assessment :
- RdM : 25% practical reports + 25% written exam (30 minutes)
- Elasticity : 25% practical reports + 25% average of 2 best MCQ
ER assessment = Evaluation rattrapable : supervised written exam of 1h30 (strength of materials) and 1h30 of elasticity.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Second session
ER : if few second session, (<6) oral test can be proposed. Second session mark will replace the one of the first session.
Retaking EN assessment is not possible
Moyenne de l’UE / Course Unit assessment = EN 40% + ER 60%
