Goal(s)

The objectives of this Course Unit are:
- Provide basic knowledge in electronics
- Understand and implement a sensor and an actuator on a system (command control - control - ...)
- Give the basics of signal processing with certain and random signals

Responsible(s)

Pierre GRANJON

Content(s)

Acquisition chain - restitution,
Implementation of sensors
Basic tools for electronics, sensor conditioning, pretreatment of electrical quantity, interfacing and system outputs

Basics for signal processing with certain signals: representation, finite energy, average power - self function and cross-correlation - delay measurement - estimating signal parameters known form linear filtering, convolution - properties and characteristics of linear homogeneous filters - demultiplexing / multiplexing - frequency representation (signals, filtering) - sampling theorem of Shannon - linear filtering properties and discrete signals

Prerequisites

Electrical circuits
Mathematical tools (integrals, functions, ...)

Test

Normal session
Continuous assessment (EN) :

  • average of the marks for the signal processing practical work done in pairs (20% of the final grade)
  • average marks for electronics practical work done in pairs (50% of final grade)
Final exam (ER): written examination in signal processing, 2 hrs, without documents EXCEPT one A4 handwritten sheet of paper (recto-verso) and calculator NOT allowed. (30% of final grade)
    ----------------------------------------------------

Make-up session
The mark obtained replaces the ER mark. The EN mark cannot be made up.

All absences must be justified to the school when the student returns to school. Otherwise (unjustified absence, justification not validated by the Director of Studies, or justification received too late), a mark of zero will be awarded for the missed session.
----------------------------------------------------

      • In the event of a return to a distance learning format due to the COVID-19 pandemic:
If the individual assessment in signal processing DS cannot take place face-to-face at the school, it will be carried out remotely (online MCQ type), always on an individual basis.
If the school is closed, electronics design and signal processing practical work can be carried out remotely. Assessment methods remain unchanged (individual reports).

EN 70% + ER 30%
