Goal(s)

Power electronics is becoming essential in all devices and systems that use or process electrical energy. The primary goal of the course is to provide students with deep knowledge of modern forms of power electronics conversion. The course aims to develop all major power electronics concepts, in terms of systems as well as components.
• Advanced topics in power electronics: DC-DC conversion, DC-AC conversion, AC-DC conversion, sinusoidal absorption
• Introduction to design and implementation of converters.

• DC-DC conversion: indirect chopper, reversible chopper (2 or 4 quadrants), switch mode power supplies
• DC-AC conversion: single-phase PWM inverter (bipolar, unipolar), three-phase inverter (scalar and vectorPWM .)
• AC-DC conversion: single and three phase thyristor rectifiers, rectifiers connected to the grid
• sinusoidal absorption, management of reactive power
• Design and implementation of a switching cell
• Simulation in Power Electronics

Prerequisites

Basic power electronics knowledge:
DC DC conversion : Buck chopper, Boost chopper, reversible chopper.

DC-AC single phase conversion: square drive inverter.

AC-DC single phase conversion: diode rectifier.

Test

Session normale / First session
Evaluation rattrapable (ER) / ER assessment : devoir surveillé écrit de 2h / 2 hours supervised written exam (exemple)
Evaluation non rattrapable (EN) / EN assessment : interrogations écrites + compte-rendu BE et interrogation TP / written tests + BE reports + lab works tests

ER : la note obtenue en session 2 remplace la note ER session 1 / new examination to replace ER assessment
EN : évaluation non rattrapable / retaking EN assessment is not possible
