Goal(s)

Students will be able to:

  • identify and describe the main energy carriers and sources, and their role in the socio-economic development of societies.
  • explain the essential transformations of primary energy into forms usable by the end user.
  • distinguish between the different sources of energy (fossil, renewable, etc.), their available reserves and their main characteristics.
  • characterize the main energy carriers (electricity, thermal fluid, hydrogen gas) and their use.
  • describe the processes involved in converting primary energy into secondary energy carriers.
  • analyze the major challenges (climatic, health and environmental) associated with the energy transition in the context of sustainable development.
