Goal(s)
Given the current challenges surrounding energy optimisation and thermal management more generally, a detailed understanding of heat transfer mechanisms is becoming crucial in engineering practice. Heat transfer is a ubiquitous factor in the design of vehicles, power stations, refrigerators or heat pumps, electronic devices, energy-efficient buildings, and so on. etc.
The aim of this course is therefore to provide a foundation of knowledge and expertise to solve engineering problems involving heat transfer. The main modes of heat transfer are covered:
- Conduction
- Convection
- Radiation
