International students visit Schneider Electric’s Innovation Hub

On January 14, 2026, students from the SGB and SmartCities master’s programs visited Schneider Electric’s Innovation Hub, a smart, low-carbon building that concretely showcases the company’s solutions in sustainable innovation, IoT, and energy efficiency.

On January 14, 2026, students from Grenoble INP’s master’s programmes SGB (Smart Grids and Buildings) and SmartCities (EFSC, InnoEnergy) had the opportunity to visit Schneider Electric’s Innovation Hub, located on the Presqu’île Scientifique in Grenoble.

The visit began with an insightful presentation by Gaëlle Gabard, who introduced the students to the company’s history, mission, and vision. This was followed by a guided tour of the building, inaugurated in 2020.

Designed to be energy self-sufficient and to minimise its carbon footprint, the complex represents a concrete example of Schneider Electric’s commitment to sustainable innovation. Its high environmental performance has been recognised through the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
During the visit, students were shown how the entire building is digitally connected and interconnected, notably through the use of IoT technologies and a range of architectural and engineering innovations. These solutions allow the building to optimise the use of solar heat for heating purposes, while in summer the cooling system relies on the use of water from the two rivers that converge just a few metres from the site.

The visit concluded with a tour of the showroom dedicated to the company’s products and its latest technological innovations and patents, offering students a concrete insight into Schneider Electric’s cutting-edge solutions.
