My name is Isabella Prando Manzini. I am originally from Brazil, where I pursued a degree in automation and control engineering at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). My passion for control theory emerged during my first class on the subject, sparking a passion that led me to explore various control strategies and their applications. This interest set me on a path of continuous learning and research, ultimately taking me abroad.
In 2022, I was fortunate to receive a scholarship from the Brazilian government to study in France as part of a double-degree program at Grenoble INP - Ense³, UGA in the "Automatique et Systèmes Intelligents" track. I completed this project at Ampere Software Technology, a company specializing in software development for the Renault Group. During my time there, I had the opportunity to design and implement an H-infinity direct yaw moment control system to enhance vehicle handling stability. Working alongside experienced engineers, I gained invaluable insights and practical skills. I was also able to test my control design on Renault’s private tracks, transforming theoretical concepts into tangible, real-world applications. With the guidance and support of both my academic and company supervisors, I successfully authored my master’s thesis, and my work was recognized with the “Prix PFE” award from Grenoble INP.
My studies at Grenoble INP - Ense³ were transformative in many ways. I especially appreciated the strong emphasis on hands-on learning, which was facilitated through practical lab work (BEs) and collaborative projects with renowned research institutions like GIPSA-lab. These experiences made complex theoretical concepts more tangible, enhancing my understanding through real-world applications.
Before arriving in France, I had no clear expectations about Grenoble. However, it didn’t take long for the city to capture my heart. Surrounded by stunning nature and the amazing French Alps, Grenoble offers an unparalleled blend of urban vibrancy and outdoor adventures. I was immediately struck by the city’s bike-friendly infrastructure and lively streets, which made everyday life significantly more enjoyable. So much so, that I now intend to return for a PhD.

Among my most memorable experiences in Grenoble was my first hike to La Pinéa. This trek was my first real encounter with the Alps, offering breathtaking views and a sense of awe I will never forget. Overall, the natural beauty of the area, combined with the friends I found during my stay, made for countless unforgettable moments.
The international community is another reason I wholeheartedly recommend studying at Grenoble INP - Ense³. The diversity of perspectives and cultural exchange helped ease the challenges of being far from home, creating a supportive environment where everyone could thrive. The teaching methods at Grenoble INP - Ense³, which prioritize both theoretical rigor and practical application, were another highlight. The professors and staff were committed to ensuring we not only understood complex topics but also learned to apply them effectively.
Reflecting on my time in France, I realize it profoundly shaped both my personal and professional aspirations. My experience can be summarized in one image: biking through Grenoble’s streets, feeling the chill of the winter air, while admiring the beautiful view of the mountains.
