ECTSECTS
1.5
Goal(s)
To bring basic knowledge on friction, wear and lubrication. The main mechanisms of wear are presented (adhesion, abrasion, erosion… ) with the main technological rules to limit their effects. The emphasis is particularly put on the hydrodynamic and hydrostatic lubrication as well as the behaviour of the oil film in the industrial applications such as journal bearings and thrust bearings. The Reynolds equation which allows to calculate the lift of a bearing is demonstrated
