Goal(s)

NUCLEAR REACTOR SUPERVISION IN NORMAL (Hubert GRARD) AND ACCIDENTAL CONDITIONS (Pierre Boileau):
To provide students with a knowledge of the dynamic phenomena governing a nuclear PWR under normal and accidental conditions.
The purpose of this training, conducted in active learning, is to raise awareness about the main control parameters of a nuclear reactor, about safety and security risks and about design strategy of nuclear reactors.

DIGITAL SUPERVISION (Eric Zamai): The primary objective of this part is to understand the different communication systems and information that can coexist in a nuclear plant. The second objective is the study of methods for fault detection and presentation of different application areas.

Responsible(s)

Philippe (Ense3) MARIN

Content(s)

SUPERVISION IN NORMAL CONDITIONS: Thermal hydraulics of primary and secondary circuits. Coupling between thermohydraulics and neutronics. Kinetics competitions during transient power modulation. Sessions on SIREP simulator.
Special focus on orders of magnitude and physical interpretations in thermohydraulics of PWR.

SUPERVISION IN ACCIDENTAL CONDITIONS: Behavior of the system with and without the primary pumps. Energy balance of a breach in the primary circuit. Physical phenomena in an accidental situation (breach in the primary circuit, in the secondary circuit). Sensitivities related to the location of the breach (loops, pressurizer, steam generators). Training session on SIPACT simulator equipped with CFD codes CATHAR.

DIGITAL SUPERVISION: knowledge of the various aspects of digital supervision in critical industrial systems that exhibit many redundant control means.

Prerequisites

Technology of PWR
Fluid mechanics
Elementary background in two-phase flows and thermohydraulics
