Introduction to multiphase flows (ME)

Informations générales

  • ECTS

    ECTS 1.5

Goal(s)

Provide the students with the fundamental knowledge needed for the physical analysis, modelling and simulation of multiphase flows present in many industrial processes

Content(s)

LECTURE :
* general principles and fundamental elements on flows with dispersed or separated phases
* hydrodynamical actions on particles in dispersed flows
* drops and bubbles
* classical engineering methods for analyzing multiphase flows in ducts
* simulation principles for dispersed flows (Eulerian-Eulerian and Eulerian-Lagrangian approaches)
* simulation principes for flows with separated phases (interface capturing method, VOF or level-set methods)

WORKSHOP (BE) :
a 4h-workshop will be devoted to the numerical simulation of a multiphase flow using a commercial software

Prerequisites :
First-year courses in Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer

Test

Final exam (75%) + workshop (BE) report (25%)

Calendar
