Academic dates 2022 2023
Accomodation
Grenoble INP offers priority housing in student’s residence for international students. When you will submit your application to Grenoble INP, you will receive an e-mail with a link to apply for housing. Accommodations are allocated by mid-July for students applying for the autumn semester or the full year and one month before your arrival in Grenoble for students applying for the spring semester.
Accommodations prices vary from about €200 to €500 per month, for options ranging from 9m² bedrooms to studios, including bedrooms in shared apartments.

Attendance
At Ense3, attendance to all academic activities (lectures, exercises sessions, projects, internships, visits etc.) is mandatory. All absences should be justified. Thursday afternoons are usually free of academic activities.
Language requirements
- For classes taught in French, a minimum B1 level in French is required.
- For classes taught in English, a minimum B1 level in English is required.
This means that if you take courses both in English and in French, you must hold a minimum B1 level in both languages.
French as a foreign language (FLE)
Students can attend French classes free of charge, as follow:
These classes are included in the list of courses. You must include them in your choice of courses/ learning agreement.
- an intensive session (20 hours over a week) before the beginning of the autumn semester
- two extensive sessions (2 hours / week over 10 weeks) during the autumn and the spring semester.

Sports
You can enroll into a university sport, free of charge, for academic purposes or for leisure:
- For academic purposes: sport must be included into your choice of courses/learning agreement. You will get a grade.
- For leisure: sport will not be included into your choice of courses. You will not get a grade.
Buddy system
At Ense3, you can enroll into a buddy system. Buddies are a tandem of two students, one local student (a mentor) and one international student. Your buddy can guide you all along your campus life in France by helping you discover the city, meet new people, blend to the local culture etc. After your application, you will get an e-mail with a link to register to our buddy system.

You can click on each course to see a description, prerequisites, volume of hours etc. This list is indicative only. It might change. Please follow the insctructions below to use this list.
MAKE YOUR CHOICE OF PROGRAM AND SEMESTER
You must choose between six programs:
- ASI: Automatique et Systèmes Intelligents / Automatic control and Intelligent Systems
- HOE : Hydraulique Ouvrages et Environnement / Hydraulics, Civil & Environmental Engineering
- IEE : Ingénierie de l'Energie Electrique / Electrical Power Engineering
- IEN : Ingénierie de l'Énergie Nucléaire / Nuclear energy engineering
- ME : Mécanique et Energétique / Mechanical & Energy Engineering
- SEM : Systèmes Energétiques et Marché / Energy systems and associated markets
And you must choose your courses from:
- 2nd year level: semester 7 (autumn) and/or semester 8 (spring)
- 3rd year level: semester 9 (autumn). There are no courses available during semester 9 (spring) because students are doing an internship.
- It is exceptionally possible for some students to come at 1st year level (exclusively taught in French). Contact us at international.ense3@grenoble-inp.fr if you consider this option.
You can choose a different year and a different program for each semester (example, IEE- 3rd year for the autumn semester and SEM-2nd year for the spring semester).
As we are aware that your choice of courses might be constrained by regulations from your home university, timetable and language issues, we might allow you to pick two courses MAXIMUM from another semester/program.
Your choice of courses must include a minimum of 15 ECTS related to engineering and a maximum of 32 ECTS.
COURSE SCHEDULE
For each program:
- each course that belongs to the program has half a day dedicated to lectures
- one or several half-days are dedicated to practical sessions for all courses : there is a rotation each week
Consequently, you need to take into account the fact that you when you choose a course, you will be busy with the course on the half-day reserved for the lecture + on the half-day(s) reserved for the practical sessions.
Reminder: mixing different programs and/or semesters is not recommended. We might allow you, exceptionally, to pick two courses MAXIMUM from another semester/program.
EXAMPLE
If I choose the course Mécatronique, I will have practical sessions on certain weeks on Monday AM + Thursday AM and lectures every week on Monday PM.I will not be able to choose any other course that has practical sessions on those days, except the courses in the same program and same semester (semester 7 – ASI).
I have chosen the semester 7- ASI program. I will have practical sessions on Monday AM and Thursday AM for all my semester 7 -ASI courses + lectures on different days for each course.I exceptionally picked a course from the semester 9 – ASI PROGRAM (mobile robotics), which seems to fit in the timetable. The practical sessions for semester 9 – ASI courses are on Friday PM and I am free.
I am aware that this timetable is indicative and that I might have to change my choice of course.
WHAT IS AM1, AM2, PM1, PM2 etc?
This means that the morning or afternoon is divided into two or three period. Thus, you can take a course that take place on AM1 and AM2 but you cannot take two courses that take place on AM1 because they will be at the same time.
