Goal(s)
To apply the concepts of fluid mechanics (as well as data acquisition and data processing) for a quantitative analysis of real-life flows.
Content(s)
Force measurement on a cylinder (direct measurement using a force, integration of the wall pressure field, measurement of the velocity profile in the wake and application of Euler theorem)
Flowrate measurement (flowrate in a pipe, spillway)
Fan (Rateau coefficients for a rotating machine)
Laminar-turbulent transition
Water hammer
Frequential analysis of the signal delivered by a hotwire : application to the evaluation of the vortex shedding frequency for the flow over a cylinder
Free-surface flows
Other possible experimentations :
head loss
jet characterization / impact of a jet on a plate
pump
air lift
Prerequisites :
Fluid Mechanics course and some knowledge of data processing
Test
Average of the grade obtained for each of the 5 experimentations (TP) to carry out (report + evaluation during each TP)
Calendar
