Goal(s)

The course presents numerical techniques for the solution of hyperbolic systems.
Application to compressible flows involving shocks and to river flows with surface waves.

PDE and hyperbolic systems
1D Euler equations / 1D Barre St Venant equations (shallow water equations)
Shockwaves / Surface waves
Numerical schemes (centered, upwind, Preissmann)
Boundary conditions
High-order schemes, TVD properties (for the ME option only)

WORKSHOPS (BE)
Numerical solution of the 1D Euler equations
Application to nozzle flows
Numerical solution of the 1D Barre St Venant equations
Application to the hydraulic jump and flood waves

Prerequisites :
Discretization of PDEs, Compressible flows, Free Surface Flows
