Goals

Goals:
This lesson provides the bases of nuclear physics, particle emissions and theirs effects. The second goal is to describe the characteristics and the specificities of nuclear energy production.

Content

  • Introductory to nuclear energy (Bernard Buirette)
  • Nuclear and radioactivity- Nuclear and radioactivity;
  • reactor generations;
    -Nuclear facilities in France;
  • Surety principles

*Nuclear physics and instrumentations (Grégoire Kessedjian)

  • Subatomic particle properties; (wave – particles duality, element of restraint relativity: origin of mass energy)
  • General characteristics of nuclei;
  • radionuclide evolution ( decay chains and induced reactions)
  • rays– matter interaction
  • Experimental study : slowing down neutron measurement; study of gamma ray interaction using Ge detector.

* Prerequisites
Atomic physics, quantum mechanics, wave mechanics

Tests

  • Evaluation (2h on table + short tests during class)
