Content

The rock matrix is studied in a first part. The mechanical properties are reviewed, some failure criteria are developed (Griffith, Hoek&Brown) with an overview of laboratory tests dedicated to rock matrix

The second principal item is the rock mass :
-Characterization of rock mass : Structural description (Wulff diagram) ; mechanical behaviour of discontinuities; failure criteria ; classifications.
-Application to underground excavations : technology and design with analytics methods.
1 - elasticity solution of a hole in a rock mass ;
2- confinement and convergence method using characteristic curves of support and ground with taking the distance of working face in consideration.
