Goal(s)

The course is having several objectives. Making the students aware of fondamentals about:

  • HVDC structure and control of point to point as well as Multi Terminal stations (researcher from Supergrid Institute and G2Elab)
  • HVDC protection with protection scheme as well as circuit breakers (researcher from Supergrid Institute and G2Elab)
  • HVDC active components with sizing (research from Supergrid Institute and Ampere Laboratory)
  • HVDC modelling and simulation with EMTP labs (experts from RTE, French TSO)
  • HVDC components with the cable specificities (experts from Nexans)

Prerequisites

Basic knowledges from electrical engineering and power electronics

Test

1st session
Continuous assessment (CC) : lab from EMTP
Final exam (CT) : 2 hours written exam from the other theoretical parts

2nd session
Another written exam will replace the first one (CT). No retake for CC.

30% CC + 70% CT

The exam is given in english only FR
