The objective of this "Initiation to Materials" course is to describe the different classes of materials and major properties by type of materials. Concerning the material classes, the content aims to define, on the base of a chemical classification, the largest families of materials to some examples for particular nuances. Concerning the properties, the emphasis is particularly put on mechanical, thermal, electrical and magnetical aspects. These aspects being in direct link with the materials previously presented.
