Electrical Power Engineering - Overview and career opportunities
This Specialization program trains engineers so that they will be competent at design, innovation and development of either electrical components or systems. It also provides the skills required for engineers when leading an installation project, managing a network, as a part of a design or research team or as a business engineer, mainly in the economic sectors of energy, transport and civil engineering. The program provides technical and scientific knowledge as well as skills to produce, convert, distribute and utilize electrical energy. It also allows to study all the aspects of electrical systems such as, energy conversion, design of electrical components and systems, low energy equipments, embedded and mobile electrical networks, real time decision making in networks. These subjects are covered through an examination of possible solutions and their economic, social and environmental implications.
Engineers trained in this program will be able to:
Produce general and technical specifications of electrical systems
Design prototypes
Develop and utilize global or local numerical models of electrical components and devices
Coordinate and manage the design or installation of electrical equipment
Manage a power transmission and a distribution network
Initiate and complete applied research in electrical engineering
Manage material and human resources as well as motivate a team in the context of production, utilization, design or research.
