Coming to Ense3 as an exchange student

Would you like to study at Grenoble INP - Ense3 as an exchange student?

The first step is to apply to your home university. Please check with your university that it has an exchange agreement with Grenoble INP.  If this is the case, your university will nominate you and send us your information. We will contact you to send your application information.

Application timeline

Autumn semester/year:
1) Nomination by your university: March 1 to April 15, 2024
2) Application to Ense3: March 1 to April 30, 2024
3) Acceptance decision: end of May 2024
4) Housing application: if accepted by June 15, 2024

Spring semester:
1) Nomination by your university: from September 15 to October 24, 2024
2) Application to Ense3: September 15 to November 10, 2024
3) Acceptance decision: early November 2024
4) Housing application: if accepted by November 15, 2024

Academic calendar 2024-2025 (dates to be confirmed)

- Welcome meeting: Friday, August 30th, 2024
- Intensive French week: Monday 26th to Friday 30th of August

Autumn semester

1st year: 02/09/2024 to 17/01/2025

2nd year: 04/09/2024 to 17/01/2025

3rd year: 16/09/2024 to 24/01/2025

Spring semester

1st and 2nd year: 20/01/2025 to 06/06/2025
3rd year: between 27/01/2025 and 30/09/2025

Housing - visas - insurance

Grenoble INP offers priority accommodation in university residences for exchange students. At the end of the application period, you will receive an e-mail with a link to apply for accommodation (in July for the autumn semester and in November for the spring semester).

Class attendance

At Ense3, attendance at all academic activities (classes, practical work, projects, internships, visits, etc.) is compulsory. All absences must be justified.

Language requirements

For classes taught in French, a minimum B1 level in French is required. For courses taught in English, a minimum B1 level in English is required.
This means that if you choose courses in French and English, a B1 level in both English and French is required. Unless you are a native speaker, you will need to provide a language test or a certificate from your university to prove your language level.

French classes

Students can take French courses free of charge as follows:

- one intensive session (20 hours over one week) before the start of the fall semester
- an extensive session (2 hours per week over 10 weeks) during the fall and/or spring semester.

It is possible to take both the intensive and extensive sessions.
Further information on the French course will be sent to you after your application.

Sports

You can join a sport free of charge, for academic or leisure purposes:

- For academic purposes: the sport must be included in your choice of course/study contract. You will receive a grade and a credit (ECTS).
- For leisure: the sport will not be included in your choice of course. You will not receive a grade.

Buddy system

At Ense3, you can sign up for the buddy system. Buddies are a tandem of two students, one local and one international. Your buddy can guide you through your life on campus in France, helping you to discover the city, meet new people, integrate into the local culture and so on.
