In France, health coverage is mandatory for all students. European students have to bring their European health Insurance card (to have the same rights as French students). Students from Quebec should obtain the SE401 Q-106 form from the social security institution of their country. Non-European students (less than 28 years old) must pay French social security (€ 211) except for stays shorter than 3 months. The additional health insurance called Mutuelle is not compulsory but it is highly recommended (ex: LMDE or SMERRA: from Euros € 84 to 406  for year 2013/2014, depending on your coverage option). It completes the 30% of the medical expenses which the social security system does not refund. All students should imperatively subscribe to a civil liability / private life insurance. This is compulsory to register at INP Grenoble. It is not very expensive and covers you for all damages caused to a third party. This insurance will be delivered during your registration at Grenoble INP for about € 16 (with the LMDE or SMERRA, students' insurances).
